Government foreclosure list
The government foreclosure list is a good place to start you search whether you are an investor or just someone looking to get a good deal on a house.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development insures loans through the FHA (Federal Housing Authority) for home buyers with little money to put down. As insurers, they are on the hook for a good portion of the loan amount.
In addition, HUD has programs which provide grants to people meeting certain income qualifications. For this reason, HUD ends up owning many of these properties through foreclosure. In order to get rid of these properties, they have set up a system to sell these properties through local real estate professionals.
