Nebraska foreclosure

The Nebraska foreclosure process is judicial. This means that the lender must file a lawsuit in court in order to begin the foreclosure process. What will usually happen is that the court will determine how much money you'll need to pay to cure the default. You'll then be given some time to pay. If you don't pay in the time allowed, the court will enter a judgment allowing the property to be sold.

A key thing to know is that when that judgment is given, you have 20 days to file a written request to delay the process. This request can delay the sale by up to 9 months. If you don't file the written request, then the order to sell will be given after this 20 day period has passed.

This process usually takes 6 months to complete but can take much longer if you take advantage of the protections given to you.
